( Clinical Reasoning in Physiotherapy)
Course Description :
This course aims to provide students with theoretical and practice-based knowledge on the nature
of clinical reasoning and the process of clinical decision-making in physiotherapy practice. A
focus of the course will be on the place of interests and motivations in shaping the behavior and
decisions of therapists and patients in relation to collaborative decision making, patient-centered
care, multidisciplinary decision making, shared decision making, language, communication, and
decision aids that involve clients. Students will be required to apply clinical reasoning skills to a
range of conditions using case studies to inform clinical decision-making. They will select and
evaluate an actual patient to practice clinical reasoning on and provide justification on their
decisions and how that reflected in the practice.
