( Advanced spinal orthoses)
Course Description :
This course covers, in details, scoliosis deformity including aetiology, prognosis, reading
different parameters related to scoliosis, diagnose, assessment and treatment. The focus
will be on conservative treatment using a spinal orthoses. Different types of spinal
orthoses (e.g. Boston, Chenaeu and Charleston), their biomechanics, fabrication
techniques and indication of use will be covered. Students will be encouraged to raise
their level of thinking in which they will be challenged to use such information in
hypothetical situation of patients with different needs.
