Course Description :
This course covers topics related to behavioral health issues commonly affecting athletes and the impact of culture on personality and performance. It explores the latest evidence-based practices to identify and support individuals with various mental health conditions such as depression, burnout, anxiety, psychosis, suicidal ideation, and eating disorders. The course will also address the issue of substance abuse and chemical dependency, this include the recognition and effects of the use of legal and illegal substances such as tobacco, performance-enhancing drugs, over-the-counter, prescription, and recreational drugs. It reviews current referral strategies, policies and procedures to assess the needs and design treatment plans for individuals with behavioral health concerns. This will include learning helping skills and basic counseling.
