This graduate level course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed for evaluation ,diagnosis and remediation of language disorders in special populations including: mental retardation, hearing impairment, autism, cerebral palsy and dyslexia. The course introduces different procedures used in the assessment and treatment of these groups including collecting and analyzing speech samples, working in special education centers, models of service provided to these groups, augmentative and alternative communication devices, selecting the device for temporary or permanent use.
