Fun Educational Activities for Children with Special Needs in Celebration of the World Occupational Therapy Day

Senior students from the Department of Occupational Therapy at the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Jordan organized a community-based activity titled "Fun Educational Activities for Children with Special Needs in Celebration of the World Occupational Therapy Day” on Thursday 26/10/2017 at Nazik Al-Hariri Center for Special Education under the supervision of Dr. Hassan Sarsak. The activity included a variety of games, such as memory, visual-perceptual, and sensory-motor games. The purpose of this activity was to integrate children with special needs with occupational therapy students. It also aimed to improve self-confidence, sense of achievement, level of satisfaction, and increase awareness of both families and interdisciplinary team members at the center about the vital role of occupational therapy in enhancing the capabilities of achievement and excellence for this important population in our community. 95 students with mild to moderate cognitive disabilities aged from 6 to 18 years old participated, and gifts were awarded at the end of the activity.
